What's Happening
This is something new I've started.  To keep those interested in what's happening
here at CPDN and the Johnson household.
I will attempt to update once monthly.

Well, only five more days to go before Morgan heads off to Old Dominion University,
to start campus life.  I am filled with such mixed emotion.  All of you close to us, are
aware that she is my most challenging child (I say that with all the love in the world).
She keeps me on my toes.  It's so strange, feeling excitement and happiness for her
as she starts out on an incredible journey, yet feeling the need to hold on tight to
her, so that she never leaves the safety and comfort of her home or my arms.
Darnell is driving her down next Thursday morning.  I will remain here, I did not close
the daycare, although I want so badly to go and get her settled in.  Oh well, I will travel
down that Saturday with my sister and Morgan's nana.

Samantha is enjoying a week's vacation in Florida!  She's traveling with her boyfriend
and a few other couples.  She calls twice daily.  Boy, I blinked and my girls grew up.
She's working hard and saving money to purchase a car and hopefully to go to
      fashion/art design school.

Randall is preparing himself for his return to school.  He will be a 7th grader this year.
His new favorite thing is wrestling.  I guess he gets that from his Uncle Wallace.

The family spent a week in Virginia Beach this summer.  We all had a good time.
Morgan's friend Tiffany and Sami's friend Amy joined us.  I'm sure there's no one
who does not know, but Darnell and I celebrated our 20th anniversary that week
also.  We exchange new rings and had a wonderful dinner at a very nice Italian
restaurant.  We decided to wait until our 25th for the BIG party.

Fred-Astaire is growing like crazy.  He weighs 12-pounds and he will be 9 months
old on August 27th.  Living with him is just like having a 2-year old of my own.  He's
into everything!!!!!!!!  I keep trying to talk Darnell into sending him to obedience
training classes.  I'm not having much luck, we all know how
tight Darnell can be
      with a buck! LOL!

Darnell and I are still working on the house.  It's always a "work in progress."  I
brought a 18-foot above ground swimming pool over the summer, much to D's
dismay.  It's still boxed, because we can't find anyone to install it - LOL!  My brother
says he will attempt the job next spring, we'll see.

Next on my list of things to do is the front and backyard landscaping.  The grass
looks so bad - it needs a professional touch.  We spent close to $5000 just
cutting down three trees this summer.  Why does everything cost so much!

We put in a new driveway, renovated the kitchen and remodeled both the living
room and dining room.  We also want to remodel the bath rooms, but that
promises to be a costly job too.

I was lucky to have Kierstin come and spend the summer at the daycare.  The flip
side to that, sadly,  was that Mikki graduated and is preparing to attend school in a few
      weeks.

Also this summer we had one of my most favorite families re-join the daycare.  The
Mose family was blessed with a baby boy, Donovan, Anissa's little brother.  They had
been waiting for an infant opening here for sometime.  It's so good to have them
      back.

The daycare is thriving.  I do have one opening available, which I'm tyring hard to fill.
College tuition is NO JOKE!  During the month of September I'm planning to paint
the classroom and do a bit of remodeling.  Every few months we have the daycare
carpet professionally cleaned (it's good and healthy for the children).  The carpet
      will be cleaned next month.

Last year, unlike previous years, we did not hold our annual fundraiser.  This year is
different.  On Tuesday, September 5th we will start our Joe Corbi Fundraiser - selling
pizzas and cookie dough.  It's been awhile and the daycare could use some new toys,
books and much needed art supplies.  If anyone would like to contribute to our
fundraiser, please contact me.  It will be very much appreciated!

I have scheduled a trip to the Green Meadows Farm & Pumpkin Patch in Jessup,
Maryland for Friday, October 27th.  We have such a good time, when we go and it
sets the mood for the Halloween and Thanksgiving holidays.

Well that's all for now!  Look for an update September 18th!
